The set explores the concept of spectral music, where the sounds of the environment are turned into midi messages, which in turn control various musical devices. The environmental sounds were also made into ambient drones via various effect loops. The actual notes and sounds the system outputs are almost unpredictable, but within limits which are given by the frequencies and properties of the original sound.
The idea was to enhance the background noise of the main exhibition area, which was in a huge 100m long, 24m wide and 15m tall hall. There were eight effect speakers in line on the ceiling, which were controlled by two LFO modulated 5.0 surround panners. The LFO's were slightly out of sync and cross-modulated. The recording is in direct stereo though.
